Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS)
for Teachers & Substitute Teachers
Gardnerville Elementary School has adopted the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) framework to support the academic, social, emotional and behavioral competence of all students. The adults in our building implement the following:
-
Our primary goal is to create a safe, respectful and responsible learning environment. To do this…
-
We teach, model and expect students to display the expectations: "Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful".
-
We treat students in a positive and respectful way – avoiding yelling, belittling students, or using sarcasm.
-
We expect students to follow all established routines and procedures. Students know the expected procedures for all areas on campus. When a student fails to follow the expected behavior, we reteach it.
-
We reinforce positive behavior by:
-
Frequently pointing out and showing appreciation for appropriate behavior.
-
Awarding Positive Behavior Tickets to students who display examples of safe, responsible, and respectful behavior. These can be used to purchase items at the student store on Fridays and other rewards around the school .
